How To Keep Your Cool When Your Hormones Are On Fire

Not many fertility docs will warn you about the emotional ups and downs of taking fertility drugs so it can come as a rude awakening when you have no idea why you’re feeling so impatient, irritable or downright depressed. Everyone reacts differently, of course, but if you’re one of those unlucky ones it can be tough—both on you and those in the line of fire. Here are some tips for how to cope:

Take a deep breath and count to one hundred (maybe 200)

When you’re feeling like you’re about to lose it, excuse yourself and close your door. Close your eyes and breathe deeply, at least a half dozen times until you feel your stress level decrease. Remind yourself that whatever it was that happened that made you want to throttle someone or throw something was not that important.
