Chrissy Teigen Did IVF During SI Swim Shoot

Chrissy Teigen John Legend infertility IVFIf you have gone through IVF, you might know how it feels to keep the intense and somewhat lengthy process a secret from friends, family and co-workers. So when a celebrity like Chrissy Teigen opens up about her experience, you can’t help but feel less alone.

Teigen looked amazing in the 2016 Sports Illustrated swimsuit feature. She posted a pic from the shoot on her Instagram. Though you can’t tell by the stunning photos, the supermodel was right in the middle of IVF during the shoot.

Teigen opened up to People about her IVF process on 02/18/2016, saying, “I was getting my shots and everything in Zanzibar, I had a little medical kit. It was hard because you bloat from it, and you bruise — if I hit the wrong area. That’s the kind of things we had to cover with makeup.”

So excited to announce my 7th appearance in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition – I had to count that a million times before I believed it! My @si_swimsuit family, I love you! There is nothing like being a part of this brand and this issue. My shoot was in beautiful Zanzibar and shot by the incomparable @ruvenafanador, who is just as wonderful, kind, serene and lovely as everyone has ever told me. He thinks about every little aspect of a photo, every detail. HMU by @peterbutlerhair and @joannegair I LOVE you and am so lucky you allow me to be in your chairs! @mj_day and @darciebaum and @ja_neyney @hillarydrezner and @karencarpk – you are my family. I am proud to be in the issue but SO proud of all the work you guys put into this every single year. I just love you all. Jesus this is dramatic I know! And to all my fellow @si_swimsuit girls, congrats on a beautiful issue!!! I will see you this week in MIAMI!!!! I can’t wait to kiss all your beautiful faces!

Fortunately, this story has a happy ending. Teigen is expecting a baby girl with musician husband John Legend in April.

Chrissy Teigen is not the first supermodel to open up about her fertility struggles. Both Naomi Campbell and Tyra Banks have also undergone struggles with infertility.

Tyra opened up on her fertility struggles on FABLife, a show that she co-hosted with Teigen, that was canceled after one season. She said, “We’re kind of going through this similar thing with IVF,” she said, with Teigen beside her, “And, you know, putting needles in your tummy every day and having to come to work and smile when you feel like you want to throw up and lay down…I can’t believe I’m saying this right now.”
